Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC) Holds Pre-Service & Orientation Programme for TAMA Practitioners in Greater Accra

The Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC) successfully organized a Pre-Service and Orientation Programme for Traditional and Alternative Medicine Assistants (TAMA) Practitioners in the Greater Accra Region on 21st and 29th January 2026 respectively, at the Ebenezer Presby Church Hall, Osu.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Acting Registrar of TMPC, Dr. (MH) Yakubu Tobor Yusuf, who emphasized the Council’s commitment to promoting safe, ethical, and regulated traditional and alternative medicine practice in Ghana.

Participants were taken through key presentations on Traditional and Alternative Medicine (TAM) Laws and their implications, Medico-legal issues in practice, and Records Management, highlighting the importance of compliance, professionalism, and proper documentation in service delivery.

The Acting Administrative Secretary, Dr. Evelyn Abayaah-Issah, also participated in the programme and encouraged practitioners to be open to learning and to reach out to the Council whenever the need arises for guidance, clarification, or support.

The session concluded with closing remarks and a prayer by the Acting Head of Training and Education, Dr. (MH) Isaac Agyemang Bredu, who urged practitioners to uphold best practices and adhere strictly to the Council’s guidelines.

TMPC remains dedicated to building the capacity of practitioners to ensure quality, safe, and standardized traditional and alternative healthcare delivery nationwide.
