The Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC) participated in the official opening ceremony of the Health Community of West Africa Association (HCOWA) Summit and Expo, held today at the Ghana International Mall in Accra. The five-day event, which began on 17 August 2026, has brought together government officials, healthcare professionals, industry players, investors, researchers, and international delegates from Ghana, China, West Africa, and beyond.
A Platform for Collaboration and Innovation
The Summit and Expo serves as a platform for dialogue, investment, innovation, knowledge exchange, and collaboration within the healthcare sector. It features a series of professional forums covering gynaecology, nephrology and kidney health, pharmaceuticals, traditional medicine, medical technology, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-supported healthcare applications.
The opening ceremony also featured the Best Brand Awards and the official launch of the 2027 China–West Africa Medical Summit & Expo, signaling growing opportunities for healthcare cooperation and investment between China, Ghana, and the wider West African region.
TMPC’s Role and Commitment
As the statutory body responsible for promoting, regulating, and ensuring the safe practice of Traditional and Alternative Medicine in Ghana, TMPC’s participation reflects its continued commitment to strengthening partnerships and contributing to discussions on innovation, technology, professional development, and quality healthcare delivery.
The Summit also offers an important opportunity for stakeholders to explore partnerships that strengthen healthcare systems, expand local capacity, promote responsible innovation, and improve health outcomes across Ghana and the wider West African region.
