Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC) Secures Office Space in Assin North to Advance Decentralization Agenda

by | Feb 12, 2026 | News | 1 comment

In line with the vision of the Acting Registrar of the Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC), Dr. (MH) Yakubu Tobor Yusuf, to decentralize the Council’s registration processes and bring regulatory services closer to stakeholders, a significant milestone has been achieved with the successful acquisition of office space in the Assin North District.

The decentralization initiative forms part of the Registrar’s broader strategy to enhance accessibility, improve service delivery, and strengthen regulatory oversight across the country. The establishment of regional and district offices is expected to facilitate easier registration, licensing, and compliance processes for practitioners within their respective jurisdictions.

This achievement was made possible through the support of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin North, Honourable Sylvester Amakye, whose collaboration and commitment to strengthening healthcare governance in the district led to the successful securing of the office space.

Honourable Sylvester Amakye paid a courtesy call on the Acting Registrar at the Council’s office to discuss the initiative and reaffirm the district’s support for the Council’s mandate.

The Acting Administrative Secretary, Dr. Evelyn Abayaah-Issah, warmly welcomed the DCE on behalf of the Council’s leadership. The meeting underscored the importance of partnership between local government authorities and regulatory institutions in promoting safe, standardized, and compliant traditional medicine practice.

The establishment of the Assin North office marks a significant step toward the Council’s goal of decentralizing its operations nationwide. It is expected to improve regulatory efficiency, enhance practitioner compliance, and promote public safety within the traditional and alternative medicine sector.

TMPC remains committed to strengthening institutional presence across all regions and districts in support of its mandate to promote, regulate, and educate traditional and alternative medicine practice in Ghana.
